CCA CERTIFIED LEVELS
I hadn’t thought about coaching before, but after competing as an athlete for 8 years, I was offered a coaching job in 2008 and I’ve been doing it ever since! When I started I had just one team, but I now regularly coach 5 teams: Mini, PeeWee, Juniors and two adult teams; an All-Girl and a Co-Ed.
I have coached teams for the European Championships (2012 Junior Co-Ed, 2016 Adult All-Girl) and in 2019 I also coached a Junior Co-Ed for the Asian Cup. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and have worked as a cheerleading instructor for the IFC in Russia, as well as developing and running cheer camps in both Russia and Poland.
I believe it is important to stay relevant and up to date in my knowledge. In 2016 and 2017 I attended the Varsity conference (Germany) and in 2018 I took both the ICU Rules course (Moscow) and ICU Judges course (Belarus). In addition to my CCA Gold, I am currently undertaking another ICU course.
MY EXPERIENCE AS A CHEER COACH
MY TRAINING EXPERIENCE WITH CHEERCONDITIONING.ACADEMY
This course has a good range of resource materials on so many topics! Everything is very clear, and it was really interesting to learn about subjects not covered on other coaching courses I’ve done. I wanted to learn everything immediately!
Previous coaching courses I’ve taken didn’t talk about nutrition. I learnt a lot through this module, and as a result, I talked to my athletes about their diet and helped see improvements in them. I was also extremely interested in learning more about joint mobility and stretching. I realised I had previously made many mistakes in stretching (for example excessive stretching at the beginning of a session). The course had videos of exercises that I could use in my class to improve athlete’s mobility and stretching safely. My favourite module was the important lessons on psychological preparation of the team.
Preparing for the practical tasks (filming exercise demonstrations with my athletes) also helped develop me as a coach; particularly my session planning and time keeping. The module helped me change my approach to the allocation of time and how to schedule my sessions more effectively. I am no longer afraid that there will be no time to work on something!
As I went through the training, I remembered information that I had previously known, but rarely used. It allowed me the time to reflect on how I could better make use of my knowledge. It gave me time to pay attention to my mistakes and figure out how to fix them. I'm glad I took this course.
I specialise in stunts and pyramids and have a particular passion for working with PeeWees, Minis, Youth and Junior teams. I would like to work with other teams and love traveling around Europe.
